so why the term socially conscious?
according to the ab fab website wikipedia:
social consciousness is consciousness shared within a society. it can also be defined as social awareness; to be aware of the problems that different societies and communities face on a day-to-day basis; to be conscious of the difficulties and hardships of society.
it also says:
a socially conscious person tends to be empathetic towards others regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, disability, class, or sexual identity.
SO.
the reason i chose to name this blog socially conscious is because: in order to build Detroit back up to the awesome city we all know it can be (and already is, we just need it on a bigger scale), we all need to start at the same level.
you know: be empathetic, exercise trust. have faith. be collaborative. connect people who do good and make things happen. etc, etc, etc.
this can apply to any social issue, topic, subject area. anything. but being socially conscious while doing it, makes all the difference.
and that’s where the title comes from. i want this blog to do exactly what is listed above: to be empathetic,…to connect people who do good and make things happen, in the city known as the D.
